Saturday 10th April & Sunday 11th April
All four races were keenly contested. The above picture was taken during the second race on Sunday. The overall winners are in the blue boat, blue spinnaker, Nick Miller & Helen Wilson. Leading are Bill Crichton & Richard Hargreaves, Richard having taken over from Rodger Audsley for the final race. On their left are Steve & Peter Jones, on the right are Andy & Ryan Holmes not in the Carlsberg but sailing in The Norman Shaw Trophy series run concurrently.
Saturday was the first day of The Carlsberg Trophy.
The first race, three laps, was over the course - 'D' to starboard, 'E' to starboard, 'B' to port, 'H' to starboard. All boats started well except Nick who was over the line again! Mark and Paul were missing but Bill Crichton was out for the first time and Ivan joined the fleet, inspired by his stint at helping Penny Forum yesterday. Nick was crewed by his daughter Ruth. The race was long and challenging, helped by the additional hazard of the freighter.
The second race had to be shorter due to the length of the first one and was again three laps but over the course - 'B' to starboard, 'F' to starboard, 'A' to port, 'H' to starboard. Nick making sure he wasn't over the line for the fourth successive time, hung back and was left at the start, and they never recovered. Some nifty manoeuvring by Bill and Roger brought them home first, also winning on handicap. After handicap there was only 32 seconds between the first and last boats, a very close run race.
Sunday - final day
A glorious day at Glasson, sunshine, fair winds and nine dinghies racing! Several
other boats on the water and lots of activity on the boat parks.
First race- three laps over the course 14 to port, D to port, F to starboard
and L to starboard.
Second race - three laps over the course B to starboard, F to starboard, A to port, H to starboard and L to starboard
